The other discount retailers getting hit like this too soon?

Should be fun combined with the "finecast" price increases hitting soon:

I am very much looking forward to seeing some of the finecast resin line myself. As for the whole terms they're dictating now... meh. Other companies have done similar things recently. Battlefront (Flames of War mini's) recently broke ties with Maelstrom for pricing policy violations. Waddaya do?

Why are you looking forward to them?

They are just the metal figures, in a more brittle form, at a higher price.

I'm not one to complain about price raises, but if Grimgor is $30.00USD, that will be $45.00CAD.

That's insane for a single figure blister in a cheaper material. Isn't it?

Resin is superior in every way as a painting medium. Cleaning a mini is 20 times easier. Metal, no matter how high quality, always shrinks and distorts in the process of casting. Resin doesn't. Since I don't game too much anymore I don't care too much about the weight of the mini in my hand as I move it across the table (I used to, and hated plastic for a long time). Also resin isn't so much an issue I think in terms of fragility. If a mini would break in resin it would probably break in metal. So long as people aren't whipping them at each other and stuff.

Price? Well GW can charge whatever they want. I will say that I pay a lot more than 45$ US for premium mini's. Not saying I'd call Grimgor a premium mini or anything, just that I personally would pay it if I loved the mini and wanted to paint it. No I wouldn't pay 45 bucks for Grimgor. I would likely pay that for the Orc Shaman they put out way back in the day. Love that mini.

Is it a good move for their product? Don't know. Can't say I am too bothered about it though.
