3rd Annual Masters season

Post  Carson on Tue Apr 05, 2011 8:02 pm

So, I want to get the ball rolling on another masters season with a tournament in May. What I'm looking for is best possible date (keeping in mind Don's event). I'm leaning towards May 21 or 28.

Also....suggestions for what events you would like to see for this season and any masters points changes.

I would prefer to see it happen on the 28th rather than the May long weekend.

There is a 40k tourney planned for the 28th of May, but I don't think it's been booked yet.

Wouldn't you know it.....thats got to be the third time that has happened.

Anyway, I have talked with Darren and have tentatively booked for Sat.June 4. How does this sound? Pending no mass exodus of gamers from the area that weekend we'll give it a go.

So here are the details.....tentatively Very Happy

Masters season3 round1
Sat. June4 9am-
3 rounds
2500 pts
entry 20$
prizes for overall and the coveted Joseph Bugman (total of all soft scores, quiz, and painting)
scenarios are battleline, blood and glory, meeting engagement

pts breakdown.....
15 battle points possible per round so 45max
10 soft points per round so 30 max (comp and game play....player judged with guidelines)
5 point quiz
10 point painting score

comp restrictions cheers
unit size max 50models or 500pts....whichever is reached first excluding characters
no duplicate monster slots (anything listed as Mo or Un) unless used as a character mount.
900pts in characters max
no more than 5 missle/artillery units
powerscrolls prohibited

I'm in! I'll let you know what army when we get closer to the date. Hopefully I can get my high elves in fighting shape by then.

TOON-CON is Oct 1st and 2nd in saskatoon. It is planned as a miniatures and board game convention extravaganza. It would be great if the group can do an event one of those days.

On another note i can't do June 4th

I've got a question for the composition rules. Does the 5 missile unit limit include characters? I'm thinking I might take my wood elves to the tournament but I'll probably have 3 units of glade guard, an alter kindred character with his magical bow and then my treeman has a ranged attack and my spellweaver and my noble on a stag both have bows. In total I'd have 7 units or models that are able to shoot in some way. The problem I have is that all wood elf characters come with a longbow, it isn't an option to not take it. I think that the alter kindred character should definitely count toward the total but if you do that then technically the wizard and noble should also count since they both have long bows and if you allow them then where do you draw the line with regards to other armies? It gets convoluted very quickly and I don't really want to open that can of worms.

I guess I just need some clarification so I know what to do.

No, characters are excluded from this limit. The five missle unit limit includes warmachines

Cool, thanks Carson. I'd be totally cool with counting the machine-gun alter kindred character in the 5 unit limit but I was thinking it was a bit excessive to count a single longbow, good to know you are on the same page!

I have every intention on attending your event Carson. I do have a championship to defend after all.

I will most certainly be bringing my entourage...my faithful sidekick Paul Jessop...would also be playing I'm sure.

I will confirm.

PS Don, this family thing keeps a man busy. I don't think I'll be able to come to Moose Jaw. Please don't forget me. I miss you.

My friend, I am truly disappointed but completely understand. You know, if you worked in Regina this wouldn't be an issue. Wink
