Working on a Warriors of Chaos list. suggestions welcome

Chaos lord with Folding Fortress and word of agony
Sorcerer Lord with feedback scroll and 3rd eye of Tzeentch
BSB
Warriors - 26,
Warriors - 15 with Banner of rage, unit with Chaos Lord and BSB
Marauders - 31
Trolls - 10
Hell cannon

This list will suffer in the blood and glory scenario. All your opponent needs to kill is the unit of 15 warriors with the lord and bsb and you lose. I'm guessing that unit is going to be hiding in the folding fortress but even still, a few template war machines or killy spells and you are in trouble. You can protect yourself a bit by spreading out your characters but even still, your opponent just needs to kill whatever unit your lord is in to win since you are only starting at 6 points. Its only one game out of 3 but I think you are going to need at least one more banner.

As for the rest of the army, I like your big warrior unit and the marauders look good too. The hellcannon will give you some threat at range. I like the idea of a big troll unit but you could probably drop a troll or two. 10 is a strange number since you aren't a horde and you probably aren't going to get all the trolls into combat if you deploy 5 wide. I'd go 3X3 or 4X2 instead. Even 2 units of 6 might work better but then you have to worry about keeping 2 units close to your general and BSB and you have to find the points for 2 more trolls. Your army also has no fast elements. Most Warriors of Chaos armies I see have at least one unit of dogs or marauder horsemen or both. I don't know that they are necessary but I think you are going to wish you had them if you come up against a shooty army.

I think Nathan makes good sense on the banner thing, maybe drop some trolls and a couple warriors for another block of marauders.
I personally think that marauders with GW are a steal for 5 pts each, maybe put some cheap sorcerer character with stubborn crown somewhere.
Love the hellcannon.
Other than that not sure, like the warrior units and the fortress.

Hey Don can I suggest maybe consider using lore of the wild on both your casters. By taking it on both you can almost gaurantee your lvl 2 gets savage dominion, due to the no duplicate spells thingy, bringing a huge monster on from any table edge may be something fun to try, but again I don't play the army so maybe I'm just spewing garbage. Very Happy

Edit: Oh and it can't be dispelled after the innitial casting, so if it casts with IF that means its here for good!

That seems like a lot of characters but if you can fit them all in under 850 then that isn't bad at all really. You do realize that if you have the bsb, runesmith and your lord in that unit of hammerers the bsb and runesmith are going to have to be in the second rank right? The command models always have to be in the front rank and your lord takes up the other 2 free spots. It protects your BSB and runesmith but it also means they only get 1 attack in combat. I just thought I'd point that out, I'm assuming that was your plan since you have 21 hammerers, although it would be pretty sweet to deploy them in 3 ranks of 7, they are stubborn anyway so maximising attacks might be the better way to go and then your characters could all fit in the front rank.

The problem is that the rest of the lore isn't that good and if you wanted a big beasty, Transformation of Kadon results in a much better creature. The Mountain Chimera with 4D6+1 attacks is just gross considering the Shaman still gets to keep his Primal fury rerolls.

I only have 831 points in Characters with runes and such. My plan was to put them 7 or 6 wide and have all the characters in the front the runesmiths are likely not going to be in that unit.
Is it off base to take the master rune of balance (giving me one of opponents magic dice for my dispel pool) and each runesmith has spellbreaker rune (dispel scroll) and one has spelleater rune which dispels and possibly takes the spell for the rest of the game? This may not comply with the spirit of magic items...

Don do you have something to say about Alrik Rey Enano? You realize how long dwarfs hold grudges right...I'll be carving up a nice stone with your name on it and I even put myself out on the table as a slayer so if you want to throw in your 'Don' character I will for sure come looking for you in one on one melee!

@Freezingoon: If you have a Slann can your Old Blood be the general? If he can then I would definitely say you should do that. Otherwise that Slann and his unit would be worth 4 points in Blood or Glory meaning your opponent just needs to focus on killing that unit to win.

Otherwise I'd suggest dropping a chameleon skink unit and possibly a terradon in favor of bulking up your core units a bit, 20 is the bare minimum for an infantry unit to be survivable in 8th edition, 25 is much better and 30 is best. I don't think you have that many points available but if you could shuffle a few things around and at least bring that 15 skink unit up a bit it would probably help.

@Mhael: I don't think that it would be off-base to kit out your runesmiths for anti-magic. Some of those high-level spells can really hurt the dwarfs. I think it should be expected that dwarfs will shut down the magic phase, even more so than a warrior priest-heavy Empire army.
