The same thing happens to me, but I find whole armies and sealed boxes I didn't know I had. Sad

So I've been slowly plugging away at my shoebox full of assorted assembled but not painted models these last few weeks. I haven't taken any pictures but I've got a few models to varying degrees of completion. Here's a list of what I've got on the go right now:

1. 5 Mounted Yeomen (assembled, based, 1 painted)
2. Bretonnian Damsel on foot (partially painted)
3. Dwarf Daemon Slayer (Partially painted, not based)
4. Bretonnian Lord with Great Weapon (Painted, not based)
5. Wood Elf Waywatcher (based, not painted)
6. 15 Wood Elf Glade Riders (assembled, some painted, none based)
7. Avatar of Khaine (Assembled, not based)
8. The Fey Enchantress (Assembled and gaps filled, not based)

As I get some of these completed I'll post pictures.

Here are some WIP Pictures:

Slayer (the damsel is being used to prop him up)

Damsel (this one is pretty much complete apart from some base work)

Bretonnian Lord (also complete other than the base)

Not the greatest of pictures but you can get the idea.

I've got a plan for a display board for my Brets that is fairly elaborate and will take a lot of work. I'll see if I can pull it off. I'm going to model it in 3D so I'll post some screenshots of that. I'll post WIP pics as well. I'm going to use the gate section and two towers of that fortress that Carson had (what do you want for that Carson?) and use that as the backdrop with the army in front.

I'm going to make most of it out of MDF painted black but the front piece is going to be made from something with a nice grain and I'll put a crest on there as well. I might even try to make that piece removable along with the display surface so I can swap out armies if I want.

Here's the 3D model of what I've got planned. It'll have a cubby underneath in the back for army books, dice, tape measure, etc and the front will have magnets imbedded so I can put on customized plates depending on the army. The top is recessed 1/2" so I can put in a different army if I want. I may make a cover for it as well if I have time.

I made a start at modelling the display board as well. I've got everything laid out and I've started gluing stuff together. I think I might actually pull this off!

Not required. It just gave me an excuse to make this, I've had it in my head for a while so hopefully I can make it real.

Don is correct, I just used a pencil to score the cobblestones into the foam. I'll put a coat of watered-down pva on it to seal everything and then I'll paint it up.

Re: Nathan's Models

Thanks! I've made some more progress but nothing to show yet. Base coated the two towers and the base black. I'll give the gate section a coat and probably a second coat on the base then start to paint for real. The cobblestones are a 3-step process with a base of rhinox hide then Karak stone then desert yellow. The grass/moss (everywhere I put sand) is just a dark green then drybrush with a light green then the castle will be varying shades of grey with some interesting washes maybe. Then it's just a matter of picking out the other colours and details scattered here and there throughout.

Started painting the cobblestones tonight, get the base color down and about halfway through the first highlight. It is a painfully slow process that makes my eyes hurt but I think it'll look good. No pictures yet, hopefully I'll get some more progress tomorrow and I'll take some pictures then.

Here is the progress after tonight.  I'm not sure if I'll do the final highlight on the cobblestones or not, Maybe I'll leave it for now and do it last once I finish everything else.  Next I'll pick out the details like the stump, there are some bits in the grassy areas too like a broken wagon wheel and a horse skull that will get picked out.  Then it's on to the gate and towers.  I think I'm going to paint those in grey stone with some washes.  Once I do that I need to fix them to the base, fill the gaps and then repaint those filled areas again. The pic isn't great but you get the idea, most of those cobblestone areas will be covered up by units anyway.

OI! dude, like seriously awesome work. It fits your army so well. Its a bad pic as you said so i cant quite see but whats that grass? is it flock or like the painted Undergrowth technical paint or?

Dont highlight the stones anymore imo. Makes em look TOO uniform and they wouldnt wear evenly imo. But what the hell do i know i paint Skeletons Very Happy
