Warmaster and The Battle of Five Armies

Post  servantes on Wed Nov 17, 2010 3:11 pm

Being new to Warhammer I have only looked into Warmaster but wanted to know if anyone played it? Is it worth the time / money / effort or should a person stick to Warhammer? I appreciate any suggestions with this ... as I was looking at this and The Battle of Five Armies as well ... well actually do any of us play Specialist Games?

I was always curious about Warmaster as well. I've heard the rules system is good and you can put your army in your pocket, so that's a bonus. Wink Have not played either though.

I don't recommend it. It might be the best game ever but nobody is playing it. In the end you will have an army but nobody to play against.

I played the first game of Warmaster in 6 years just last month. It really a fantastic game. I did play it quite regularly in the early part of the decade. It's hard for me to disagree with Nathan about lack of opponents. I have 2 armies done for Warmaster, so I can always show it off to a friend, but they would have a tough time getting involved. As models have not been readily available in stores for years, it's difficult to get started.

However, I recommend this game to any and all Warhammer players. The feel and perspective is very refreshing compared to Warhammer. Battle of 5 Armies IS Warmaster is a nice package. If you can get a hold of it, do not hesitate to buy it. Force all your Warhammer pals to play it with you. Then, if you and your friends it, then pursue Warmaster models and keep playing!
