Nathan's Painting Challenge Mini
I've started on Orion, I think the skin is pretty much finished and next I'll start on all the leaves. I'm painting him to match the rest of my army which means an autumn color scheme with lots of reds, oranges and browns. Let me know what you think.

looks really interesting Nathan....in a good way. Nice skin tones and base work. Looking forward to see what the finished product is like.

I think it looks good, but I think you'd be really happy if you thinned some leviathan purple wash with about 1-2 parts water and gave the flesh 2-3 coats of that. It'll make the transitions smoother AND make the green tinge look super cool. I'd really, really, reccomend trying it out.

Thanks for the tip Scott, I'll give it a shot next time I work on this guy. I did some more work on it yesterday:

Nice choice for the cloth color. Is that some space wolves grey I see in there? Nice leaves too. It's gonna be great when you're done!

Yep, you see right! Cloth is Kommando Khaki, space wolf grey and a touch of skull white.

So I'm done but I can't seem to get a decent picture of this guy. Scott, can I borrow the use of your light tent sometime?

Here are the pictures I was able to take, they aren't great but they will have to do. I will probably do some touch-ups to the model in the future at which point I'll try to borrow the use of your light tent Scott. Anyway, let me know what you think!

Hey really impressed with the layering on the weapon, color on the leaves looks great. Lovely model overall. The only crit I could give would be that the paint looks thick or chalky maybe. I've got the same problem of applying too much paint in one go.

It's good, with the best part being the weapon and the leaf coat. Which is a super gay thing to have BTW. Like I said over on WAMP the immediate and easiest thing to work on for the next model is the hair. The universal highlighting can be improved by doing several different layers in brighter tone, and applied more selectively in "rings". You know what I mean. Adios.

Here are some better pictures shot in Scott's Light tent:

The little thing by the bottom picture is a quick photoshop mock-up of what I'm going to try to do with the hair. Scott gave me some good tips and I'm going to try my best to do it.
