Looks good. His face is incredible. Looks like a 3D cartoon and I'm actually waiting for him to blink -- very well done.

You should put him on a bigger base and have him looking at an even bigger, awesommer hat in a store window!

I love the model, the painting is well done but it has a bit of a glossy look to it, probably just the lighting but its a little distracting. The face is my favorite part, very good job on the eyes especially.

I'm gonna eBay this Napolean Dwarf. I painted him up all 40k-y so he could go for an IG Commissar, or advisor, or maybe the traitor equivalent.

Nice! I'm sure that's a boost of confidence for you after that manhunter went for under $40. I don't think this one was 4 times as good as that one though, whoever bought that manhunter got one hell of a good deal.

TY guys!

Yeah, it's a boost! However at the same time as this mini I had another one that I put as much if not more work into that went for the min bid of 20$, so my head can't get too bad.

Nathan! That Manhunter went to Adam Poots, the guy who made the mini's and run's Kingdom Death, so that's pretty cool. Not too upset about that!

All I'm saying is that he should have paid a lot more for it! E-bay is a fickle thing, even more random than the scores on CMON. Still, the wizzard was a sweet fig and I'm glad it got a good price.

And not wanting to sound liek I am bragging or anything, but gettign back to how awesome I am the SUPER cool part of that eBay thing for the Rincewind mini was the fact that by looking at the bidding history I had people willing to pay 50, 80, 120, 140, 160 and then who knows how high the winner was willing to go. All different bidders, and ANY of those totals would have been the single most I had ever got for a mini. Now I just have to wait for something to go wrong. Hope he pays!

Is that a GW fig? You haven't painted one of those in a while! Looks good. My criticism is that the cloak and armour look to be the same tone of red. The red is really nicely done but I think it would pop more if either the cloak or armour had a tint of some other color added to it in order to make some distinction between the two. I'd probably make the cloak either darker or browner (more brown?). I really like the shield and the black hair on the skull.

Nathan, you're bang on!

In fact, the point of the experiment was to see if I could use the same technique on the red and just use different shading colours to make them look different. The armor and shield uses green and the cloak uses red. Experiment = fail! In a good way though. It was just something I wanted to try. If I were to do it again I would do just as you said.

Also I painted that IG dude who was GW.... I still pick up a GW fig from time to time. We'll see what 8th has to offer. I do get the hankering to paint up some orcses from time to time.

A GW fig! Automatically your best work yet!! Laughing

Seriously though, love the zenithal on the sheild and Nathan might be right about the cloak being deeper -- or even Black/contrast.

What exactly is that grass you put on your bases?

I really loved this mini from the first time I saw it! I thought it had a lot of character and I just loved the idea of a Chaos Dwarf Slayer-Slayer.

Holy crap, you did a lot of work since Sat night! Love the fig, anything that looks even close to a Chaos Dwarf is awesome in my book. Is this going on ebay?

I might consider buying it for the eventual day I have a Chaos Dwarf army. Very Happy

Tech stuff: I love how you blend your metals. I also really like the flesh tone on the Dwarf head -- who looks like he's still alive Very Happy . Just last night I tried blending on a Minotaur and I simply suck at it. I am the dry-brush king.

Yeah I was going to eBay him. If you want him, we can either work something out or I could list him at 99cents on ebay and see where he goes.

Thanks about the blending, it took a lot of practice. The secret is thin paint, very little paint load on the brush, and not a lot of pressure when using the brush.

and not a lot of pressure when using the brush.

I think that is why I fail. Back to the painting board....

You really are at that level where you could put on a painting clinic and I would be there and benefit.

Just post the fig on ebay, let me fight for it like everyone else and let me know. If I want it bad enough I'll buy it, leave a neg ref and then pick it up from your house. Very Happy
