whats comp?..........seriously, no comp for 3000pts.......although sportsmanship will be worth twice as much to make up for the difference.

Well then...how many Chaos Hound units do you think I can fit in a 3000 point Morghur army?

So, just so I can start my painting now...because I might need about 3 months to do it.

Are you really going to throw comp right out the window for this one Carson? As much as I am a comp hater, I'm afraid to think of what I can come up with in 3000 points that allows special characters. I'd hate for it to descend into a cheese fest.

At 3k Wade, people have an entirely different attitude. Seriously, If you want to do it, do it.

I've never used a Special character. If there is no comp, I guess I'm going to use them all.

I've got some ebaying to do...

I've played lots of 3000 point games before, it isn't actually that much bigger. In fact my brother and I used to play 3000 points exclusively until I first came to a tournament here and found out that 2000 points was the point value that most people played. I probably won't be taking any special characters but I think I will add a second treeman and some magic to my standard 2000 point list.

I'm almost salivating at what I can do with 3000 points. My first list idea was to expand upon my current Warriors project and simply expand it out to 3000 with an eye on character and magic points. If comp's out the window I might as well dig up all my Daemon models and see just how many power dice I can muster. Hmmm, actually, I've got a painted Shaggoth here somewhere...Kholek Suneater anyone?

Sweet, can't wait to play you Rolling Eyes

I'm probably missing the point of all this but I would think that making a list that is fun for me to play with and fun for my opponent to play against would still be the important thing. Granted, sometimes power-armies can be fun for both sides but I hope we don't see too many "how many power dice can I find" armies.

I think you have missed the point.

At 2000 points we pull our punches somewhat to make things more enjoyable for the other players, but at 3000 points, the game is a totally different beast. It's not designed to be balanced at that points level at the best of times, so screw it. Have fun with the game, bring shit you would feel bad about bringing at 2000 - Your opponent's enjoyment is his own responsibility. You have to bring a slightly different attitude to this type of tournament.

Yeah Nathan, it's totally different on both sides of the table. Warhammer is really a 2000 point game. Balance doesn't really exist outside that zone much I feel. At 2000 points 6 full core units is cool and playable, but on the same size table taking another 1000 points in core doesn't help or make the game any more fun.

It's all about seeing stuff ytou normally wouldn't. Special Characters, People on Dragons, all 9 steam tanks etc. are not only legal, but make the experience unusual and fun. It's not the thinking man's gaem where the best player wins at 3k really but more of a fun narative experience.

It really is fun!

I've got the point, and don't worry, I'm pretty much just playing around with ya'll. I doubt my 3k will have a special character, and it certainly won't have 250 Chaos Hounds surrounding Morghur. I'm just riling you all up is all.

That is fair enough I guess, my planned list wasn't going to be weak by any means with 2 treemen and Decent magic but I wouldn't have said it was over the top. Maybe I should take dwarfs instead, does anyone have 40 ironbreakers that I can borrow?
