Masters Series

Post  Carson on Sun Mar 08, 2009 12:11 pm

Ok, so as I talked about down at the Den, I will be running Saskatoons own Masters tournament series. Every quarter I will hold a normal tournament. In addition, all players will be awarded masters points that they accumulate throughout the year long event. Whoever has the most points after the last tournament will be the proud winners of a battalion box......as well as bragging rights as the masters champion. Cool eh!

points are awarded as:

1point for each game played
1point for each game won
2points for a title, ie best sportsman, overall, etc.

So after the first tournament here are the standings

Paul Jessop 18
Wade Robinson 16
Geoff Klassen 17
Bob Gonda 11
Kendric Gonda 14
Andre Mercier 11
Dominque Mercier 11
Eric Miller 15
William Hughes 4
Dana Madsen 8
Dean Dodge 3
Don Matwe 11
Scott Radom 4
Pat Vercamen 4
Pete Wall 4
Joe Misfeldt 8
Stash 4
Nathan Rinholm 5
Ben 3

I think I should only have 4 points (2 losses and a win)

you know the battle was up for grabs right till the end, which was perfect. 1 more cannon shot on the seige tower or avoiding the loss of Chancellor Gothberg and it would of gone to the good side.

Best moments for me were my faithful Halberdiers "the old Grognards" holding out against combined the warriors and beastmen attacks for 5 combat rounds.

There were quite a few of those "what if" moments that could have swung the game, I think one of the biggest would have been killing that siege tower like you said, another would have been if the Mazumati's gift unit of Saurus warriors hadn't turned tail and fled as soon as they stepped on the table! My favorite part of the game was defending the left flank barbican against the skaven hordes. Joel threw everything he had against my longbeard rangers but the bearded folk held firm and repelled every assault. I think that if we had played the last turn it would have been a closer result too, team good won some ground in turn 5 but we needed one more round to gain back the points that we needed.
