Good day folks. My name is Michael and I am out of Regina.

Love Warhammer fluff and am a fairly experienced wargamer with Flames of War and Blood Bowl experience.

Blood Bowl is my main jam, and I have travelled a fair bit for tournaments.

Fantasy has always intrigued me, and I recently got a dirt cheap Tomb Kings/Undying Dynasties army. Looking forward to playing some rank and flank with you guys!

Now to paint some bones.

Welcome Michael! Let’s get some games under your belt with those UD. What models do you have - enough for a 4500 point army?

I haven't counted totally, but it would be close to 4500. Not sure if it is the legal ratio of core troops to specialists though. It included a few of my favourite model - the Necrosphynx - as well as a Bone Giant and Catapult. I'll dig through them sometime soon and count it all out.

I am trying to source some more chariots, as those would be the easiest way to bulk out the army.

Hey Michael, super awesome you want to play fantasy. 9th age is awesome, good time to get onboard. Tomb King are awesome. Super fun army, I'm running them this league. What do you have fig wise? Should go from there and see what all you need, I'm running big blocks of foot skeles. Fun stuff. The bone giant is super awesome. Definitely one of my favs.

Glad to be here. Tomb Kings have always been a favorite of mine.

I know I have the following:

  • ?? skeletons - a bunch of sprues and some assembled
  • 6 chariots
  • ?? cavalry
  • 2 catapults
  • 3-4 scorpions
  • an assortment of command - including Pharaoh and Casket
  • 3 sphynx - 2 Battle, 1 Dread
  • 1 giant
  • unsure on the rest - trying to identify the models

Most of it is either unassembled or needs to be stripped and started fresh. The core and command are first priority, then the Sphynx' will get some love.

Ou honestly you have enough for 4500 easy.

You can run all 3 sphinxs and make tons of friends or any 2 and the bone giant. but thats the maximum amount of "big stuff"

The two units of 3x chariots is probably all you need tbh, they get less impact hits but are great chaff hunters imo. Mine do always seem to die pretty quickly though, people see chariots and get afraid haha.

Definitely jealous of all the scorpions, you can bring a max of 3 now, but they are tough as heck and can "underground ambush" right into an enemies back field, cause heck on war machines and wizard bunkers.

The catapults are 200 points each now and i haven't used them much, just painted mine up tbh. but brining a couple of them they ALWAYS hit on 5's and would give your opponents a reason to walk over too your side of the table.

With the two chariots naked you have about half your core, you can give banners and command. to bump that up. Some skeleton cavalry for redirectors and a skeleton archer bunker for a wizard. You'd probably have your core easy.

With Two Scorpions, Two catapults, Two Sphinxs and the Giant you are at 2115/4500 plus the 1125 of core you need. 3240/4500 plus the characters and upgrades. Easily 4500 for tomb king.

Ha. I ramble at times but Tomb King are alot of fun.

You definitely have a good army there. Paint everything but 2 scorpions and you’re good!

Ha. Jokes on me. The sprues were all weapon sprues. No full skellies. The only assembled ones were for the Sphynx' and/or chariots. I got the army on a smoking deal, so not choked about it.

I'll probably order some Mantic ones in the meantime.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Traditional fantasy has a great aesthetic. Rank and file troops appeal to me. Moving a bunch of circle bases gets boring real quick.

So, I'm guessing scorpions don't make friends on the tabletop?

Anything in your army book is fair game. People whine and complain about things that are good but in the end it is up to your opponent to find ways to deal with whatever is across the table from them. Don't take any of our whining about this unit or that personally or too seriously.

It’s nothing like that at all. You’ll probably only ever field 2 scorpions point wise.
