nicely done Sean, I bet it feels good to be able to push around so many nicely painted models after years of playing with grey plastic.

My Ogre Great Khan and his throne of barrels

It was mentioned at the tourney by Carson that i could use a lighter skin highlight to help make the skin pop. We didn't get a chance to talk about this and i was busy getting my ass kicked by Nathan. But how so? Like dry brush or a literal high light? and the top of the fig? Wouldn't that be the most "sun burnt" ?

Carson probably should speak to this but if it were me I'd take the lightest skin tone you have and paint the topmost raised areas, not so much with a drybrush but slightly more controlled than that. Only problem is that I've found it works best on sharper surfaces rather than the big round surfaces of ogres.

Honestly, I think your ogres look great Sean. If the above method doesn't work for you and if you still want more depth to your skin tones then go the other way.
Take agrax earthshade and really get into the nooks, crannies and cracks.

Thanks Nathan Smile i quite like how the ogres turned out.

I think i understand what you mean by almost a dry brush but with more control. so probably use a small brush eh? Yeah ogres are pretty round, i found edging (if that is what its called) is sooo easy with 40k stuff because its all straight lines and edges. I will try it on one ogre and post. worst case i have one guy i gotta re do.

Ou Agrax in the nooks, that might be a bit drastic as i went with Reikland Fleshshade for my skin wash... but maybe that was my initial problem. Will experiment! building 8 Ironguts right now because i suppose i need a couple great weapons in the army haha.

Side note, does anyone in Saskatoon know if the Den has a box of the 6 basic ogres?

Thanks

No dry brush for skin, you have to apply the color very some thinning down to keep the transition smooth
