January '17 Jobber

Post  ScottRadom on Tue Jan 03, 2017 6:57 am

Okey doke, I think everyone posted for December.  Which is likely the hardest month to commit to getting anything done.  So good work!

This month I'll get my third BB teammate done as well as a couple Chaos Warriors.  So those three mini's from me for sure.

1. Scott -One BB Orc and Two Chaos Nurgle Halberdiers.
2. Nathan Rinholm - Empire test mini's
3. Don - Bunch of Elves
4. Carson - Rat stuff

Who else?

I'm going to keep hitting the skaven, either the warlord or abomination.

Here's my test model for the Sisters of Avelorn conversion I did.  9 more to go!  I realized I can't put these in my army as my core fills up the "Elder Service" category of my army. Rolling Eyes

I am going to challenge myself to paint a 'full-spectrum' model. Meaning that it will involve, at least some part, everything in the colour wheel from red through purple. In fact I have already started into another Malifaux model called Yasunori. He is a Kibuki master riding a flaming Ki-rin. Lots of space on this for splashing colours.

Every colour of the rainbow hunh? Kieran what you describe to me sounds like the stuff of nightmares and it fills me with a sense of foreboding and dread to see this completed monstrosity. Good luck amigo!!!

Almost halfway through the month, how's everyone's progress?

I've been busy converting and assembling but haven't put any paint on yet. Probably my only painted figure this month will be a demigriffon knight, riding a giant wolf instead of a demigriffon. The base probably won't be complete either because I haven't come up with a plan for how I want to base this army yet.

I think I'm shifting gears on my choice for this month. I'll post soon what I'm painting....

The Yasunori is predominantly done. Although I do have to tone down the jade green feathers (that probably sounds terrifying to you Scott) the blending is good to go on the remainder. I still need to come up with a manageable image to paint on his kimono, then finish up the glowy katanas.

I think by the end of the month I'll also have 10 Slaanesh Seekers and 4 Fiends finished, but my challenge fig will be my Keeper of Secrets, who's taller than a Scourge of Wrath. This will finish my Khorne And Slaanesh Daemons.

I broke out the paints tonight and made some good progress on a wolf-riding knight. I'll post pictures of it once I take some but I'll have this finished easily before the end of the month. Just need to figure out a good basing scheme.

I made it! When dealing with the whole spectrum, the challenge is getting some colour balance on the model. This proved to be questionable on the first attempt, so I change a couple of things. I went into almost yellow on the mask instead of the blue I initially had. Then I added the bonsai tree to have a spot of green and red . Hope you enjoy the kaleidoscope. Taste the rainbow!

Nathan, looks good! Can't wait to see a couple units on the table.

Kieran, I think you did a great job. Very clean work and ditto on the base.

Its definitely better than I was thinking. Kinda fits the Asian mini. free hand is awesome.

Looking good so far Nathan.....love the checks on the shield. Our empire armies would look really good together.

How's everyone doing on this? I just need to post the pics. Working on some Chaos Warriors and finishing up a plague bearer or two. Still working on Blood Bowl and painting up a little bit of DAK as well. Not sure what I'll call out for my target for Feb other than a BB orc. Just need to pick some other Jabroni's to commit to as well.

First pic in the light tent. Looks washed out, so I obviously need some practise and adjustments. Smile Either way, Jan fig is done.
