Don's Tzeentch Warriors

Post  squalie on Mon Jun 27, 2016 9:47 pm

So, since I have a theme and a paint scheme in mind, plus a basing idea - I figured I'd track progress of this army. Shouldn't be too bad actually, as I have all my ducks in a row.

I have a couple models I won't show until they're painted because they would just look like glued GW figs, no conversions. I'll introduce new units as they get glued, etc...

I'll start with my General, a lvl2 Tzeentch Daemon Prince, with Vargheist wings:

20 Tzeentch Warriors, with BSB

Tzeentch Marauders, thrown weapons, and Barbarian (more coming in the mail)

3 Tzeentch "Skullcrushers"

8 Tzeentch "Once-Chosen". They don't have models, so I made them!

This is going to be a cool army. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together. Love the prince.

Took some pictures to prove progress.  I also noticed the closer I got the light source AND phone to the figs to take pictures, the darker the image was on my screen.  Anyone know why?

The blue armour... like i really love the colours and the direction of this army but the blue is almost... toooo blue, too unblemished? does that make sense?

I think I agree with what Sean is saying ( scratch ). The blue, while very vibrant is also a bit flat.  It is the same issue I have with most of the Eavy Metal painted stormcast models so I don't think it's your paint job, more a combination of the model itself and personal preference.  Not sure how one would fix that.

edit:

Found these, probably doesn't really apply but I think they might be the nicest-painted stormcast models I've seen so far:

Stick with the blue, it's growing on me. I think you might just need to put some more depth into the color. Darker in the recesses and lighter in the raised spots.

Aye love the actual blue but it just needs exactly this. Depth, lighter light spots, maybe a scar or scratch somewhere?
