Alright awesome Don, ill hold off till your ready. I still have shermans that need building anyways. And The 25 pounders for sure werent in stock so I will put in an order with u when ure ready, just let me know.

They might have the box set - which is what you want anyways as it has the command, Universal carrier and staff team.

(avoiding Don's favorite 1" gap rule)

Don't worry Lance, Warhammer has a 1" rule and I hate it there also. I just think at the 15mm scale especially that 1 inch is A LOT. Pretty much the width of a Cromwell.

Ha I was using / asking about the 1" rule the whole tourney! Every opponent looked at me like wtf. Warhammer runs deep in us

There are notable exceptions:
Arrow Dug in infantry fire up at vehicles and over the heads of the dug in teams in front
pirat Infantry that have not moved or shot can be fired over by vehicles behind them
bounce French infantry can shoot through their own teams at infantry & vehicles

So will these do the jobs the same as the 25 pounders? cuz these are cheaper point wise... Or what am i not getting here

Commonwealth Mortar Platoon (1C)
1 Cmd Rifle team
1 Observer Rifle team
4 ML 3" Mk II Mortar
= 130

Commonwealth Heavy Mortar Platoon (1C)
1 Cmd Rifle team
1 Observer Rifle team
4 ML 4.2" Mortar
=165

In a word - yes
They don't defensive fire as well as the 25 pounders but yes for Arty support and especially smoke -> YES! Very Happy

Well that changes alot of things... do these do more damage? because seems like a no brainer to take them then. Especially since with 4 i can smoke with a double template

They do less damage to anything armoured but surprisingly they are better at killing dug-in infantry because they have a better firepower.

Hrm... well i got time before my order to fiddle with this list now. i think dug in infantry will be my issue as a tank list so those sound better

I also saw 5.5's in my list, those the same idea?

5.5 are the ultimate killing arty gun
- Mike target is your friend
- they kill infantry or tanks (yes, even KT's)

However, in order to field the 5.5s most lists require you to field the 25 pounders

... I quit.

Naw ill go with 3" or the 4.2" ones I will need infantry killers more then tank killers. So Nathan's point is valid

You get 25 pounders, Sextons or Land Mattresses.

*edit* Actually, Canadians get 4.2 Mortars in the Overlord book. The problem is you won't get 4 tank Platoons with Firefly and the lists are trained.

I think they're cool, but they are more expensive moving 25 pounders. You don't have enough points to spare.
