It is a little tricky to navigate the site.

I gave the rule book a good read today and I really like what I read. This is my first choice. I still want to play some games but it looks very good.

Post and ask them, they pretty seem approachable. Good question.

Is it just me, or am I finding a distinct lack of other player info about Avatars of War Warthrone? There's very little (none) on youtube, except for fig videos and no battlereports whatsoever, written or otherwise. Are we pioneering this game? Are we the Guinea Pigs?

I find that curious.

War throne has been just recently released whereas Kings of war has already been through a first edition. Also, as it is a spanish company most of its support has been centred in that area. Its just now starting to gain popularity in North America with the implosion of GW fantasy.

I am quite excited about the game. Kings of war looked really good to me as well but I have the impression that it lacks some of the tactical aspects that Warthrone offers.

Over the next couple of weeks until Andres get-together, I will be reading the rules better and preparing an army for this game in the hopes of getting some games in.

Anyone have what a standard army size is. If not I'll build for 2000pts....

Avatars' in-house list building site only gives you the option for 2000 points so I'd assume that 2000 is the default.

Don gave me the heads up that Avatar of War rules were probably going to be what you guys use. I must agree in the fact that Kings Of War seems to lack... tactics other then smashing blocks into eachother, on that note I feel that I personally think that way because im use to 8th list builds and strategy (yes khorne had a similar strategy). In KoW strategically sacrificing units seems to be part of your "tactics" I fed a horde of skeleton warriors to 3 ogre units just to get a counter charge with some mummies. because there is no "over run into combat" in KoW. so im not sure if it is fair to say it lacks tactics or if it just requires different tactics. I have heard KoW refered to as tabletop "chess" but as long as im pushing dragons into elves or vice versa. Im going to be rolling dice SOMEHOW

ON that note, I have downloaded the avatar of war rule set and will be having a game or two tonight Dwarf vs Chaos. IF this is the way you guys are going me and my friend are ready to abandon KoW all together. I need opponents to crush under foot so I will play what everyone else is playing, and the sheep says bahhh.

My 2nd edition rule book for Kings Of War is already in the mail. so either way ill have it if anyone wants a look sometime or any more info on it.

I got an answer about Warthrone armies not done yet. Orc and Goblins should be translated this month and there's no ETA for Lizardmen as no one has done it yet. If someone wants to start a discussion thread on their site to get the ball rolling, it doesn't seem to take long to get an army converted.

Some advice on Warthrone.

Carson, since this has basically become a Warthrone thread, can you rename it or split it into another "Avatars of War - Warthrone" thread?

Actually, everytime I have tried it says that I need admin to do that. I don't know what cruel joke has been pulled on me. Why oh why must I suffer the torments of others!

I don't know what to tell you bro. You're an Admin. I guess this is one of those things where you just gotta start trusting and believing in yourself. Like at the end of the Matrix when Neo believes he IS the one. Then he can start flying around and shit.

EXACTLY the same thing with you and your admin privileges. They've already been given to you, but you have to take them for yourself now.
