Don I've got your church printed. We'll figure out who owes what once we make all our exchanges.

Playing a game of V4 Flames of War with Lorne tonight. This is the table, that sleepy Dutch village won't know what hit it! I'll post my thoughts on the new rule set tomorrow.

Played a game with Lorne last night. The Brits secured a defensive position on the lower left table quarter. Their intelligence must have been a little off though because the German panzers had an objective on the lower right as their primary goal. The Brit's calls for reserves went unheeded as nearly a dozen German armoured vehicles parked on the objective. Finally, on the third call a unit of 3 Cromwell tanks entered the field and set to work clearing the Huns from the field. A platoon of airlanding infantry and 2 M10's joined them the next turn and things got decidedly interesting. The Brits from the left cleared up the token resistance on their flank and rushed to help. Some key shots by the M10's and a daring assault by the infantry resulted in 3 dead panther tanks and momentum shifted to favour the plucky Brits. The loss of the Panthers spelled doom for the rest of the German tanks as one by one they fell to the withering fire and infantry assaults. The Germans gave almost as good as they got, taking down the British armour. Their aircraft owned the skies with the German pilots claiming most of the tank kills of the day. In the end the British defence held strong and the Dutch town was liberated.

It was a fun game, as with any new rule system I'm sure there were some (many) mistakes made, mostly by me but Lorne was a great opponent as always. If you haven't played V4 yet I recommend it. Despite all the changes it still plays as the Flames of War that we know and love.

2 M10's on 3 Panthers. Well done!

What were the biggest differences you noticed?

Movement is a big one although I didn't really use any of the fancy new movement orders other than a few dashes. Infantry can move quick when they want to and vehicles on roads are really fast. Motorcycles in particular can go up to 40" on a road! Other little things here and there but I'd say the biggest change is to the movement step.

Here's the finished church terrain piece, 2 smaller houses to go and I'll have a pretty good sized town.
