New Wood elves

Post  Kuyp on Mon Apr 21, 2014 11:41 pm

I seen some leaked pics as well as a possible release date for this weekend ...
http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?36070-Wood-Elves-Rumor-Roundup/page14

I'm pretty excited to see what happens, looks like eternal guard have AP attacks most probably, forest spirits have a standard 6 up ward save, and judging by the points cost of durthu some major point reductions are in order. also if you can read the rules for the other special character, it looks like he has an outlandish ability to cripple high initiative and weapon skill models if he can cause a wound to them, -5 to both for the rest of the game anyone ?

its just a special character ability... that also has a ballistic skill of 7! strength 2 and most likely a short range.

i think we may see a trend here, one of my largest problems was getting past Armour. to me it seems they are going to try and fix that in a major way

Think they will get the ASF that the rest of the elfies got? It'll be interesting to see what they get vs what dwarfs got, both being old army books and all.

Sonofacrap, and I just built myself a new treeman! I can't keep up with all these releases. I have been thinking about dusting off my hippy elves, this might motivate me to do just that.

they really are getting bad at army book creep again though, it means that the next version of Warhammer is going to be a complete wipe again... I remember when they had to kill 4th edition because of that.

Can you give us a rundown of the rumours thus far? I can't be bothered to look through the various rumour threads to piece them together. Any word on updated war hawks?

I have not seen any update on war hawks yet. So far what I have said is all I know. I 'll keep updated if I hear anything else. As well as a good run down once the book comes out

i heard they are getting some fancy tree for the infantry that lets them fight in an extra rank and have AP.

and that the hawk doods will have 2 riders or something.

Ugh i hate that i love those trees....

Can anyone say Elk cavalry?

I think some of those are earlier rumours that may not be true. While I like that treeman model, I think I'm going to stick with my scratch-built ones.

I love the new magical possibilities too. Lore of life is good but there are so many other good life's that I think will work better with my style of wood elves.

I've been reading the rumours and now the preorders are up on the GW site too. One of the best bits of news is that the war dancer character is also a wizard. My guess is that he knows some spells from the lore of shadows. Should open up some fun options I think.

Tree kin go down 20 points per model but lose a point of strength. For 120 points less on my unit of 6 I'll take that with a smile.

It looks like there are indeed stag riders, possibly a dual kit with wild riders. Eternal guard will also be done in plastic along with something else. We'll have to wait for next week to learn more about that.

I was really hoping the stag riders would look terrible so I wouldn't feel inclined to buy them.  These look outstanding.  I fear that I might not get my dark elves finished before my affections shift back to my wood elves.

The wildwood rangers and eternal guard look pretty good too.

Awesome - they have targets on their heads. It'll make it easier to shoot them....

The sisters are a special choice apparently with poisoned javelins and count as a level 2 wizard like the warlocks.  They know shield of thorns and curse of anrahir and have a 4+ ward save (so say the internet rumours anyway). Apparently they cost 1 point more than the warlocks too.

Not sure if the stag riding dudes are wild riders or something new or if the stag is an upgrade that wild riders can purchase instead of a regular horse.  I really like the kit though.

Edit: there are pics of the sprues floating around too, I am pleasantly surprised to see that the legs of the riders are not sculpted on the mounts. Should make for some interesting conversion opportunities.

They hit the same mark for me as the warlocks do. Not a big fan of the stags, riders look good though.

Damn... so they are Wood Warlocks... in the process of moving and never used that lore but what do those two spells do again? maybe stags are like +1 str on the charge and makes them tough 4 or something... im guessing but guessing amuses me.
