A light breeze pressed against a solitary face of stone bringing promises of a calm day. Scout Captain Longfoot Mellar looked out over the valley that stretched before him. He had never really gotten over the longing of being under the mountains as most dwarfs never did however days like this made him feel content. Taking a long pull from his favorite pipe and enjoying some leaf one of his squad had discovered a week prior, Longfoot surveyed the slumbering dwarfs with him. A close knit group of dwarfs they had learned to rely on each other which became very important while fighting above ground. Support was not likely to find them while they were ranging. Good lads through and through they had fought many battles and had developed their own tactics employing arm strength and minor gunpowder lacking the support of heavier war machines that were simply too cumbersome to bring along.

Longfoots eyes picked out the shape of a gyrocoptor approaching well before the chopping thump thwap thump hum reached his ears. This would be Lars Raffulsson returning with supplies. As the drone got louder the sleeping dwarfs shook themselves awake and peered at the dull blue metallic gleam of the gyrocoptor. Hovering above the camp a fist sized stone with a red flag descended. Odd thought Longfoot Lars should have set down.

Recieving the message stone Longfoot unwrapped the oiled paper and stared in disbelief... Dwarflord Alrik Rey Enano's force was destroyed and Alrik was either captured or dead!

Longfoot signalled his bannerman, Felnar Steadyhand over and ordered him to assemble the dawi, then used the time to collect his thoughts. Their last orders from the dwarflord were to scout the ̣blue valley trail, named for the short large petaled flowers that marked it out, in preparation for Alrik's passage to the Silvervein hold.
The Silvervein throng were close kin to the Enano throng and were renowned runesmiths creating the majority of the runic weapons and armor used by the dwarfs of the blue valley. Dwarflord Enano ruled the valley making his stronghold at the foremost mountain to the outside realms. He employed many miners and blacksmiths whose forge fires never cooled and the vents never stopped spewing smoke thus giving the mountain its name.
Normally the underways would be used but a recent cave in had made passage impossible even though the engineers had reported no significant repairs were necessary. Runelord Doki Silvervein had just finished inscribing a special axe for Alrik...a gift he would present to his son. Also being traded was a shipment of refined ore which was to be made into new warmachines for the main valley entrance.
