Great Canadian Minis

Post  Duke Kristian on Tue Dec 10, 2013 2:58 pm

Hey has anyone ever bought anything from Great Canadian Minis?

Seems legit...they have been around for awhile.

Chaos Warriors $29
Chao Warhounds $20

30% off everything but $22 shipping on all orders under $250.

Just looking for any feedback.

Thanks

I've done two orders with them back in 2008 and 2010. It's actually cheaper to order with them from Saskatchewan than it is in BC because of tax. Razz

Communication is a bit slow, there was a minor error in my order that they quickly refunded (had an unavailable model listed that I tried to buy Razz), but otherwise they got the job done. Obviously that's a long ways back, but they did the job back then.

Occasionally they even have a 40% off sale to clear inventory (there was one at the end of October).

If you do place an order with them I might be interested in ordering as well. We might be able to get above the $250 and save on shipping.

I ordered a model from them once, the only problem was it took about 2 months to get to me.

It might have been an isolated situation, but it was for that reason that I've never ordered from them again.

let me know what happens if you guys decide to order anything, I'd like to know if things are running any faster.

My first order took a month and a half, and I seem to remember the second order taking about as long. At 30% off, there'll always be *something* that you don't like about the order.

Wow that still seems like a long time. With todays delivery options and them being in Canada already.

I just ordered some stuff from The War Store on black friday. They are about 20% off gw i believe. But my package only shipped on monday dec 9th. Seemed to be some miscommunication on there end. But because of that they refunded me shipping and are sending it priority. And i didnt even cause a fuss. Just one e-mail asking on the staus of my order. So that was kinda cool tbh. Ill probably use them again.

Warstore has US prices as well, which is a heavy discount in itself. If you're ordering a large quantity, that may make more sense, though you do have the (low in my experience) risk of getting dinged by customs. US postal prices have gotten crazy (and apparently are going up again in January) but if 3-4 people are going in together, it should get more than covered.

I've never done this, but apparently you can apply for a refund for part of that if the goods were manufactured in North America. GW stuff is made in the UK, so until the new free trade agreement comes into effect, you'd risk getting dinged.

Great Canadian have been around for quite a while. I acted as their trade rep while working with GW Canada. They initially were just an online retailer that was forced to have a brick and mortar element a few years ago. That's where the Victoria location came into the picture. I'm sure they still do business in a similar way, though. i.e. They take your order, then order it themselves from GW. After which they distribute to you with thier discounted rate. That would explain the 5-6 week turnaround.
Ultimately, they'll still satisfy your order, but don't expect it quickly.

That's a good point too. Probably 20% off and no waiting for shipping. Plus it's always nice to support the local shop.

You get the same deal then too. Pretty much every tournament they put GW stock at 20% off.

And here I've been buying things at full price like a sucker. If I drop some money with someone can they pick up a few things during the sale for me?
