Water effects

Post  bluepeople on Wed Oct 09, 2013 1:49 pm

Hello gents,

So I attempted to make some marshes/swamp pieces.  This is how they turned out.  There is some large bubbles and many small bubbles.  I'm wondering how I fix that.  Is it just poor quality product I used or is there something i need to be doing to prevent this?

I've never used water effects before but I think maybe you need to apply it in several layers or just use less at a time.

Alternately, you could try using this product:

seems like it's good stuff.

agreed i think i used too much of the product at once. the packaging says something about using a craft heat tool. They look like blow dryers so i tried a blow dryer but it didn't get hot enough to melt the resin.

I found a heat tool and used it to smooth out the edges and get rid of the rounded look along the shorelines. looks a bit better. Although I will rethink my materials that i used to construct these pieces with. i used Styrofoam and plaster. the plaster is okay but the areas where there was styrofoam melted slightly. When I make pond and river pieces I will use wooden stir sticks I think; and also wait to apply the flock and turfs as the hot air destroyed those materials.

Those look pretty good. Can you take a 3/4 view picture of them?

Thank you Carson. I very much appreciate the compliment.

Don I don't know what a 3/4 view picture is. Is this a close up? Please explain.

I'd like a picture 3/4's the size of the one you posted.

Actually, I was making a bad joke.

I was asking for a "3/4 angle" view of the terrain. Just like a video game.
