Those horses look way better than the GW painted ones, and the chariot looks like it should be throwing out a ton of sparks in its wake!

all of the above plus the big wheel in the middle of the chariot:D

Great work on the rust effects Dom....first time for that?

Love the paint job on the eagle.....keep the snow on the wings, looks like extreme highlights.

Carson : yeah that's a first for me. I think they are to Orange yet, probably should have put more time and effort in to each one individual but when staring at 100+ ... yikes

I love that Chariot Carson, the horses look great painted not-black too. I've got to get painting mine so we can compare! Maybe the next megabattle should be Dark Elves vs all comers!

Here's my painting challenge entry for December. Next month will be 5 warlocks and maybe 5 dark riders if I have time.

I'll take some nicer pictures eventually, it's just such a hassle to break out the camera and light tent.

Bases are pink styrofoam insulation carved to shape, then coated with drywall mud for rigidity. Sand for texture.

I did enough for my 1250 point army in an evening, then left them overnight to dry. Basecoat and paint the next evening and then I do the snow and grass once the model is painted. That would be 30 cavalry bases and a chariot base. The next 1250 will be 30 more cavalry bases and 3 chariot bases. I might also do a 50mm monster base for a dark pegasus and another chariot base for a dragon but those might have a bit more to them as I like to spend a little extra time on the flying guys.

If it was hard I wouldn't do it! I always try to make things as easy as possible while achieving the results that I want.

The same philosophy can be found in my paint jobs, pretty much everything is done with washes and drybrushes, in fact the knights themselves are pretty much entirely basecoated with boltgun metal and the cloth areas are drybrushed with ushabti bone then the rest is washes. They look terrible before the washes happen!

You have to be fully painted though, stick with the painting challenge and you'll get there!
