What I'm painting next

Post  Carson on Sat Sep 07, 2013 11:22 am

Hey guys, I've started and finished a few painting blogs of different armies. Lately instead of working on a single project I've drifted from one thing to the next. I've actually enjoyed doing this as I never get fatigue on a single project.

I'm starting this blog to track my various on-going projects:

Empire....my oldest army, my favourite, and yes still adding to it. Will be working on a sizeable knights of the whitewolf (tuetogen guard and knights)group in the near future.
WOC.......love the models and fluff of the army, Not 100% in love with the paint effort in the army. might add some marked colors in various spots. Would like to add a nurgle warrior unit with lots of deformities (green stuff)
O&G......love the army, currently accumulating the figs for another clan to join the horde (da spidr clan)Very Happy
Dark Elves.....waiting for the new book, working on a repaint (drow type skin with white hair, redish/black armour scheme)
vampire Counts....Zombies, skeletons, and varghiests left to paint, plans for a future feral army of ghouls, crypt horros and ghoul kings.

Future projects......where to begin. High Elves, dwarves, and skaven armies in the collecting stages, Intrigued by Lizardmen.

Crazy right! But I love it.

So, first pics of what I've just finished and about too.

My vision of the dreaded terrorghiest. waffled back and back on the inclusion of it in my army but its a staple now.

Almost finished Arach. Just need to finish the Great Shamen and crew (old school goblins by Kevin Adams).

Those look great Carson! I can't wait to see them in person. I've been feeling the itch to start a new army and posts like this really make me feel like doing something new. Are you waiting to see when the new dark elf models are coming or are you just forging ahead with existing models?

The rumour-mongers are saying new warriors which can be built with spears, swords, or crossbows, exec/black guard dual kit, dark riders/something else dual kit, hydra/kraken dual kit, chariot dual kit, plastic witch elves and new cauldron. It seems like a lot but if so, I'm thinking Dark Elves will quickly become a very popular army.

Cool, I'm going to steal it for mine, but I'm going to try add a flesh-coloured wash to it and maybe a hint of yellow too.

here are a few pics of the finished model. really tried something different with the skin tones on the monster but I think it will tie in nicely with the army theme/color.

the banner is an image of "the mouth of Khaine" from the army book with my army rhuin symbol etched in the centre

first a horde unit of 30squigs and 10 herders

and a small unit of 5 Orcboys

picked up a Nikon d40 from ebay no less. Really nice camera, just starting to figure it out. I had the light over the fig for this shot but looks like it needs to be from the front as I lost the color in the banner.

Re: What I'm painting next

Post  Carson on Sat Oct 18, 2014 6:30 pm

Its been awhile since I've posted anything on our site pic wise. I havn't been idle though. I've been hard at work over the last while rebasing and updating my Empire army. It is the oldest collection I have and was starting to look a bit dated.....I even entertained thoughts of selling it off but quickly banished that idea as I soon realised just how much I love that army once I started working on it again. It now features much better bases, updated artillery with basing and banners to display its loyalty to the northern state of Middenland.

A lot of work, but really worth the effort. My warhammer collection now includes fully painted armies(collections of around 5000pts) of O&G, Warriors of Chaos, Empire, and Vampire Counts.

I'm quite excited to start work again on an army that has been started and sidelined many times....Dark Elves. This in in fact my 4th drow army, the others sold off. This one i'll be keeping and adding to my warhammer collection.

Starting out with a 2500pt list for league play

master/dreadlord on dark Pegasus
master bsb
beastlord on manticore
supreme/sorceress
2 *10 repeater crossbows
30 spear
bolt thrower
hydra
30 blackguard
2 *5 dark riders
scourgerunner chariot

a real finesse army that will probably change once I start getting my ass handed to me....unless I can play like a Dark elf.

Here is the pic of what I have done so far. right now working on the 30block of spears with cauldron as a unit filler.

Looks great! I'm looking forward to what you do with them. Can't wait to see what your Empire looks like, rebasing can do wonders.
