Day of a Thousand Deaths

Post  Mhael on Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:11 pm

The weekend of September 8th-9th I will be hosting a games day at my house in Saskatoon. I have room for at least six tables although I only have two myself and could use help with some terrain also. If the out-of-towners want to come up Friday I do have some spare room and will be providing lunch and supper on Saturday. I had it in the back of my mind to have a mega battle game or mini tourny (forces of good vs evil) if their is enough interest. Let me know as soon as possible if you plan to attend so we can hash out some game details.

Ok everything is still good to go. For those coming over on saturday please let me know as I will be serving burgers for supper and need to do some pre planning (I usually just make an abundance anyway). If anyone is new and doesn't have an army I have a couple with lots of models and several old dicers will be around to teach. There is NO tournament setup and instead is a come and go event for whenever people can make time for a game. Friday night will likely be a late one and Saturday my garage will be open at 9 going as late as people are throwing dice. I will have snacks (of course donations of the edible type are more than welcome) but please bring your own beverages. I am hoping to have six tables and could use some terrain. Like I said all are welcome to stop by even if they just want to see what the game is about but I will warn those with allergies that I do have 2 cats. My address is 218 Coppermine cres. Head north on Warman road and turn east at Lawson mall (primrose) my street is the first right and I am the bluish rancher style house on the corner. Should be a great time hope to see some new faces and for sure some familiar ones!

Sounds like good times. I'll probably come out for a bit Friday night, maybe for a few hours Saturday as well provided my wife is OK with herding kids for the day without me. I'll bring my Dawi Zharr Wink

I'm not the most experienced player, mind, so this sounds like it'll be a good pace for me!

Sounds great. I'll bring the fire and the beards! Oh, and my Tamurkhan rule book as well with the Legion of Azgorh list in it (plus the Forge World FAQs for my guys too).... folks can feel free to thumb through whlie I'm there if they haven't seen the book before.

May be a dumb question here - but should I just plan on having a couple of lists with me for various points amouts (i.e. 1000, 1500, 2000) to keep it as flexible as possible, or should I be going totally crazy? Not that I really want to bring 10,000+ pts worth of Chaos Dwarfs... we'd be there all weekend.

Generally games are 2500 points to keep consistent, but feel free to challenge at any level.

There are some pretty cool alternate games for 3 people and different scenarios. I have the models and could take on two against one or we could push tables together and have a mega battle. My plan is to not just play the original 6 scenarios.

Hey, long time lurker, occasional player. Nicodemus gave me the heads up about this event. Sounds cool. Definitely free Friday, and trying to make some time for Saturday. Will bring my skaven.

My goal is 8 games for the weekend. Sandman, not sure when you and Nico are showing up (if) Friday, but I'll have you a game also.

My plan is to be in Saskatoon later afternoon and I'm going to start rolling dice in the driveway. I'm planning to basically stick to the 6 scenarios to see how the new Tomb King army rolls along.

My wife decided she should flee the house for the weekend so I have to drop her off at the airport at 5. Should be home by 6.

Haha, fair enough! I'm sure if I even started making rumblings about hosting something like this my wife would start packing her bags for her escape (er, I mean vacation!!).

I'm guessing I'll show up some time between 7-8pm on Friday. And Mhael - thanks for hosting this too! Looking forward to it, have hardly touched my paint brushes or Green Stuff since May... now I'm hastily working to get a pile of models finished in time for Friday. Horray for not being back to work yet!
