Introductory Night/Mini Tournament
Friday May 25, 6:00pm at Dragon's Den
3 rounds - 1000 points
Composition Rules:
No Lords, No Rare Units - The point of this is to cater to new players so don't show up with a winner-take-all attitude
Scenarios - Battleline (let's not complicate things)
Scenery rules - No wierd scenery, a forest is just a regular forest, rivers are just regular rivers, etc.
Entry fees - not yet determined but I'm thinking this could be a free event unless the guys at the Den have something to say about it.
I will provide High Elf, Wood Elf, Bretonnian and/or Dwarf armies for people who have no army but want to try a game. I think I can make about 6 painted 1000 pt. armies with the models that I have, I doubt we'll have that many people without armies but then at least they'll have a choice.
You can sign up here, I'll also get a signup sheet at the Den and put up posters for people who aren't on this forum.
This event will kick off the new league.

I may actually make the drive for this. I have never played a 1000 point game in all my life. Seriously.

Re: Introductory Night/Mini Tournament
They are a ton of fun! I think my favorite game of all time was a 1000 point game. Way more tactical than your typical 2500 point smash-up. Plus they go really quick. I don't want this to be a new guys only event, in fact it would be awesome to have a 50/50 split of new players/league regulars. That way we can set it up so that new guys are playing veterans who can show them the ropes a bit.
I'm putting on this event to try to grow the league. There are way more people in this city that play warhammer than are in the league. Also, lots of guys who used to be regulars in the league have drifted away for various reasons and I'm sure there are lots of people who have never played but would be keen to try a game or 3.
For the regular warhammer players who will attend, I'm going to challenge you to bring a fully-painted army. This event is about promoting the hobby and painted armies do just that.

I think i will try and be there for this, if there is still room.
Although I may need to be considered neither a newbie nor a vet, as i havent played in a while I'll be some sort of tweener, if that cool with everyone xD.

I'll try and be there with my painted Daemons or my painted Tomb Kings.
If someone needs another painted army, they can have the one I don't end up using, or both if I don't make it.

Re: Introductory Night/Mini Tournament
So far we have:
Darren - Ogres
Ethan - ?
Jared - High Elves
Don - High Elves
Nathan A - Warriors of Chaos
Possibly Eric - Tomb Kings?
Joe - Daemons
Carson - Empire
Dom - Orcs and Goblins
Clark - Orcs and Goblins or Skaven
We have the back 4 tables reserved and we can possibly spill onto a 5th if there is enough interest. If you know someone who would like to try a few games bring them along! I still have 3 armies available for use so don't let it stop you if you don't have the models. Also, can you post what army you will be bringing? I don't want your list but it would be nice to know what race you will be using.

I might be able to make it, either with Orcs or with Skaven.

Awesome, looks like we'll have a good turnout. Things might get a bit crowded if other people decide to show up without notice but we'll make it work. Worst case we can divide the tables in half and play 4'x4'.

Re: Introductory Night/Mini Tournament
Thanks to everyone who showed up and made the event a success. Congratulations to newcomers Ethan and Jared on your first tournament, each came away with some good experience and a draw or two under their belts. Thanks to the veterans who showed patience and good sportsmanship with the newcomers. I think we have a pretty great community here and it showed on Friday.
Joe was the big winner, his daemons came out on top in all 3 games and his good sportsmanship sealed the deal. That said, all 8 players ended within 4 points of each other and it could have gone any way.
