Carson vs O&G

Post  Carson on Tue Nov 15, 2011 7:05 pm

Life/work has finally settled down, and what better way to celebrate with that with an army blog.

As part of the painting challenge on our site I reworked a converted grimgor fig. Never was happy with the typical green's for Orc skin so I tryed out some real light greens. I liked the effect so much that it gave me the inspiration to finally get at my O&G. I've had a shitload of the orcs ever since I got into fantasy but only played them in one league and never got close to actually painting up an army......till now.

I'll start with one of the best units in the army list....Black Orcs,

After a couple of nights painting here is what I have to start....26 Black Orcs led by a Black Orc bsb on warboar.

you can see the "grimgor" fig that started this for me in the front rank.....he's just a champion now!

Pretty good for a couple nights work!

So now that you've started O&G that must mean you've completely painted your other armies? Laughing

I really like that light skin you've got there Carson! That black orc unit has a lot of character, I love the posing and the horde-like look to it.

I've finally returned to work on the Orcs. First up a unit of 56 night goblins with nets, shamen, and an open spot for a night goblin bsb.

A Black Orc Warboss (magnet) option for the Wyvern

A unit of 6 trolls with night goblin herders. Love the figs (48$ for all 6) and wanted to try out some different hued skin tones.

finished up a hero on cave squig, used the same color recipe as the mangler but just didn't turn out as well I think.

My son Aiden had been pestering me for a "Gynormus" battle using all of our painted figs..........

That is pretty awesome Carson! Those pics remind me that I need to get to work on improving my terrain collection. The only thing that makes a game with two (or in this case 4) fully painted armies even better is having some sweet terrain to go with it.

I think the Manglers look just fine and fit nicely with the rest of your army.

The suspense is killing me - who won between you and Aiden?! Wink

Really havn't posted anything of the Orcs for awhile even though I've finished the army and am now adding in more units. So, thought I'd post up some savage Orcs for this weekends mega battle.

Those look great. I'll bet they look even better in person. The black background looks cool but really "blues" the picture.

Maybe it's just the face paint. Very Happy
