That's too bad, but don't worry they'll be more. After all, you're going to host one aren't you? Wink

Project Update:

Well I tried painting yesterday and today, and my arm is good enough to paint again. Pain is minimal. I finished painting and assembling my Screaming Bell. Just have to finish the Rat Ogre and Grey Seer that ride it and it is done. Smile

Tonight I am running Matt through his first game of Warhammer Fantasy at my place. Wood Elves vs Wood Elves 1500 points. This should hopefully give him an idea how to play his list in the megabattle and learn some of the mechanics.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Glad to hear you're on the mend and back to painting. Make sure you teach Matt all the good tricks.

Project Update:

Physiotherapy going real well.

I've been painting all evening, and my Screaming Bell is almost done - Rat Ogre completed. All I have left to do is paint the Grey Seer, and he is mostly clothing, so it will be a quick one. Once this is done the plan is to:
1) assemble another Grey Seer fr use in a Clan Rat unit, (Saturday)
2) assemble my last Battalion Box, (Saturday & Sunday)
3) base them all, (Monday)
4) magnetize them all, (Monday)
5) and finish off all my movement trays. (Monday)

If everything goes well, by the end of this Long Weekend, my Skaven will be ready to play, as I continue to hammer out painted units each week.

I believe it will not take very long to finish my 80 Plague Monks since they are mostly clothing and weapons, which I am able to do pretty quickly. So they will be first on my list. It will make my Plague Furnace unit prettier on the table much sooner. Then I might do a Hell Pit Abomination and/or some Rat Dart units before tackling 220 Clan Rats/Slaves...

I am hoping my shoulder doesn't give out before I finish what I want to this weekend. So far so good. Very Happy

Project Update:

Having a game with Matt this afternoon. It will be his second game ever of Warhammer.
Glued the Plague Monks to the bases. Finished the mold line cleaning of 15 Giant Rats and 3 Packmasters. Corked 70 more bases.
Ordered 6 Rat Swarms on line. From here: Vermin Bases. They are dirt cheap and I think look better than anything I could find from Reaper or GW.

I will be ready to play my Skaven horde by mid week at the latest. Believe it or not, Matt might be buying the Island of Blood set, and I will buy the Skaven out of it if he does because painting the 300-400 Skaven models I have isn't enough, right? Shocked By doing this, I can increase my 3 slave units from 40 to 50 models per unit (150 slaves...). In a 2500 point list, this should put me around the 300 models count on the table.

Cool! Remember to report those non-league games too, they count for 2 points.

Project Update:

Finished cleaning, assembling and basing 40 Clan Rats.

All I have left to assemble is 4 Rat Ogres, and a few Packmasters. I still have to magnetize around 70 bases, and cut my current movement trays into smaller sections. I am going to take the rest of the night off. Should be able to finish all that by tomorrow night.

My Skaven are just about done. I plan to have my first game with them on Friday. I am very excited!!! Very Happy

Project Update:

Finally took some pictures of my Bell. Not totally done yet (still have to do a couple of minor things), but close enough. Lighting on the pictures didn't turn out all that well...

And here is what Darren's O&G is having to face as a 2500 point list tomorrow night... 279 models of raw Skavendom...

Unleash the... erm... RATS! Stay outta my sewers, you stinky Goblins!!!

There is so much randomness with this army and low leadership. Hopefully it performs well on the table.

Normally I field around 70 models in a 2500 point game. This army is like the opposite of what I am used to playing. Should be interesting.

It looks great! At this point it gets interesting. Inevitably the first few games with a new army can be a little rough due to learning what your units can do. If the first few games go really bad you start rethinking the whole army and then it gets really tough to get motivated to paint! Stick with it though, it looks like you're on the right track.

I am totally digging their fluff and really like the clan rat sculpts. I am looking forward to getting this massive army painted. I love all the crazy random machines and units they have. It makes the Wood Elves feel so restricted in their options in comparison.

I feel I can make an army list with Skaven that can handle most army's strengths which is refreshing.

Bell looks great, especially the grey seer. Can't wait to get my orcs stuck into those rat blocks.

Well it has been a little while since I posted. Been playing too many games!

I primed 80 Plague Monks today. Planning to get them done before the end of March, by leveraging some of my vacation. 25% of my army will be painted if this happens. Smile Then I am thinking of doing my two WLCs after that.

Just getting motivated to start my epic painting run.

I have Thursday, Friday Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off this week, and I plan to paint up 80 Plague Monks. I am hoping to be able to finish that number in 5 solid days of painting. Next week, I have Thursday and Friday off to continue what I don't finish, or maybe start my Slaves or if I can't stand assembly lining any longer, finish up a few other things like my WLC's.

Then I have Easter Weekend to pound out more. This will be a real test of my speed and sanity. I am eager to see what kind of quality and volume I can put out over the next few weeks!

Good luck, if you manage all 80 in 5 days and keep up the painting at this rate you'll be into your tomb kings by summer!

I am still a bit nervous. I am starting the painting right after work, and with the exception of Thursday night and Saturday night, I should be painting for 16 hours each day. It is reasonably possible to get all 80 done by Tuesday with that many hours painting. If I can manage it, I will be very happy!

They are always hiring. Smile

I only get 8 weeks plus 2 days of vacation each year, plus sick days... Is that a lot? Shocked
Most of the time I use it to paint...
